Bollywood singer KK died in Kolkata on Tuesday after a concert by Gurudas College at south Kolkata’s Nazrul Mancha. An autopsy will be done today to figure out what killed him. According to a hospital official, KK was declared dead around 10pm after complaining of uneasiness. “It’s too bad we couldn’t treat him,” he said. He felt heavy when he got to the hotel after the show and soon collapsed.

It’s been reported KK felt uneasy during the performance, and he complained about how hot it was and how bright the lights were. Also, the AC wasn’t working in the auditorium according to social media. While he was on his way to the hotel, the air conditioner was on and he felt cold. While he was performing, he took a break. The police had to spray fire extinguishers to control the crowd at his event.

KK’s wife and kids are on their way to Kolkata right now.

KK will always be remembered through his songs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a tribute to him.

I’m sad by the untimely death of singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, also known as KK. His songs were full of emotion and touched people of all ages. We’ll always remember him through his music. Condolences to his family and fans,” Modi tweeted.

KK’s 1999 album Pal made him popular among the youth. His first album had the hit songs Pal and Yaaron. His first Hindi film had an AR Rahman score. For a famous heart-break song called ‘Tadap’ from the film Hum Dil Chuke Sanam, he earned acclaim.

Among his Bollywood credits are ‘Ankhon Mein Teri’ (Om Shanti Om), ‘Zara Sa’ (Jannat), and ‘Khuda Jaane’ (Bachna Ae Haseeno) and ‘Tu jo Mila (Bajrangi Bhaijaan). KK sings in a lot of languages, like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, among others.
